Kirkland Lake Discoveries drills 121 meters of 1.01 g/t gold at Mirado Project, Ontario – Resource World Magazine


Kirkland Lake Discovery Company (TSXV: KLDC; OTC: Kalklf) has released assay results from its ongoing 2026 diamond exploration program at the former producing Mirado facility, located 20 km southeast of Kirkland Lake, northern Ontario.

The second drill hole, targeting the southern area of ​​Mirado, exited 75 meters southeast of KLM26-001 and confirms continuous mineralization of 1.01 g/t gold from 11.0 meters to 132.0 metres, including a high-grade break of 7.41 g/t gold over 4.8 meters from 74.2 metres. An additional eight holes have been completed with pending assays, representing a steady stream of results in the near term. Two holes test the northern zone and eight holes test the southern extent of the mineralization as well as the deep IP anomaly beneath the historic deposit. This hole follows KLM26-001/KLM26-001B, which intersected 103 meters of continuous mineralization, including 5.66 g/t over 18.7 metres.

Mineralization style and geological context: The mineralization reported here is associated with the southern zone and is hosted within intermediate volcanic units, characterized by stringer systems of quartz carbonate with 1 percent to 5 percent widespread pyrite and strong local vein replacement (up to 90%). The alteration is dominated by widespread chlorite carbonates with localized sericite and siliciclastic, and minor chalcopyrite occurs in more strongly variable intervals, reflecting a structurally controlled vein and stringer system within a widely varying volcanic host.

The Mirado system includes two complementary patterns of gold mineralization. The southern zone consists of structurally controlled, high-grade quartz-carbonate-chlorite vein arrays within broader lower-grade envelopes, while the northern zone hosts stratigraphically controlled subconformal sulphide mineralization within felsic volcanics, which remains the focus of ongoing drilling.

The current results confirm the continuity of historically defined mineralization and show consistent downhole continuity, supporting the company’s advanced geological model and highlighting the strong potential for expansion along strike and at depth. In the Southern Zone, 121.0 meters of 1.01 g/t gold were recovered, including 3.2 meters of 4.61 g/t gold and 4.8 meters of 7.41 g/t gold in the Southern Zone.

Deep IP Anomaly Testing: The deepest hole drilled to date at the Mirado project, KLM26-007, reached a downhole depth of 732 meters and was designed to test a prominent low IP resistivity anomaly interpreted to extend below and below the South Zone mineralization.

The anomaly forms a coherent feature consistent with the expected subsidence of the southern region and may reflect increasing alteration, structural complexity and/or sulphide development at depth. Historical drilling has been largely limited to depths greater than approximately 150 metres, leaving this feature untested.

Ongoing drilling is designed to determine whether this anomaly represents continuation of subduction of the mineralized system or a broader alteration envelope associated with structural controls of the southern zone. The results of KLM26-007, along with subsequent deep drilling, will be crucial in determining the importance of this feature and its relationship to the overall mineralization system at Mirado.

Progress Update and Next Steps: Initial hole results from the 2026 drilling program, including KLM26-002, confirm the presence of broad areas of continuous gold mineralization within the South Zone and support lateral and vertical continuity of the system. Drilling has also begun to test the northern zone and deeper targets, including the IP anomaly beneath the southern zone, where historical drilling has been limited.

These results are integrated into a sophisticated 3D geological model, improving the company’s understanding of structural controls and mineralization trends.

Ongoing drilling will continue to focus on graded targeting along strike and at depth while systematically assessing subsidence potential in the southern area and testing geophysical targets, including the deep IP anomaly. Additional drilling will prioritize increased data density to support future resource modeling.
