About seven ships, most of them dry bulk vessels, crossed the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours, as diplomatic talks between Iran and the United States faltered, shipping data showed on Monday.
The vessels included ships departing from Iraqi ports and one dry bulk ship from an Iranian port, according to ship tracking data from Kpler and satellite analysis from data analysis firm SynMax.
Shipping traffic through the waterway at the mouth of the Gulf during the uneasy ceasefire between Washington and Tehran represents a small fraction of the average daily traffic of 140 before the Iran war began on February 28.
Shipping data showed that the volume of shipping traffic through Hormuz on Monday was similar to previous days.
US forces have turned back six tankers carrying about 10.5 million barrels of Iranian oil and returned them via Hormuz to Iran in recent days, according to a TankerTrackers.com analysis.
TankerTrackers.com analysis showed that about 4 million barrels of Iranian oil on board tankers passed through the US blockade on April 24.
