West Natuna Exploration Limited (WNEL), a majority-owned subsidiary of Singapore-based natural gas exploration and development company Conrad Asia Energy, has awarded Indonesia’s Timas Suplindo an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for the subsea umbilical, flowline and riser (SURF) at its natural gas field offshore Indonesia.

WNEL, as operator of the Duyung Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with a 76.5% stake, and its partners Empyrean Energy (8.5%) and Coro Energy (15%) secured it. Final Investment Decision (FID) In March for the Mako gas project in the Natuna Sea.
The project will initially consist of six development wells linked to a leased mobile offshore production unit (MOPU), with a design capacity of 172 million standard cubic feet per day. The sales gas will be transported via a pipeline approximately 59 km long and 18 inches in diameter to the KF platform at neighboring Kakap PSC, and then via the WNTS pipeline for delivery to the Indonesian domestic market.
Timas was tasked with verifying the front-end engineering and design (FEED) and carrying out the detailed engineering design of the SURF system, including flowlines, export pipelines, risers, subsea structures, umbilical engineering and installation, as well as the procurement of all contractor-prepared materials and the management, storage and integration of line and umbilical piping, SPCS and subsea valves.
Furthermore, the company shall manufacture, assemble, package, inspect and test subsea structures and associated SURF components, load, transport and install flowlines, export pipelines, subsea structures, cranes, umbilicals and offshore ties, and finally carry out pre-commissioning activities, including cleaning, measuring, hydrotesting, dewatering and leakage testing, and provide support to WNEL during commissioning and start-up.
