
WWith the Posidonia project fully underway, the next few days are expected to be “packed” with reports of new construction deals from Greek owners. Meanwhile, in its latest weekly report, shipbroker Banchero Costa said that “new construction transactions continue to flow in, both on bulk carriers and oil tankers.” Hengli Heavy Industries remains in the spotlight, as it was rumored this week to have acquired and ordered from Korean owner HMM for four 306,000 DWT VLCCs at $125 each, to be delivered from March to December 2029. Chinese owner Teying Marine Holdings has reportedly committed a 2x plus option for 2x more than 114,000 dwt LR2s at Chinese Lianyungang Wuzhou shipyard at a price of $68 million, with first deliveries expected in 2028, while deliveries for options will commence from 2028 to 2029. In the bulk sector, Chinese owner Shanghai Time Shipping has reportedly booked 3x 82,000 Kamsarmax bulk carriers in Nantong Xiangyu: announced price is $35 million for delivery in 2029.
Meanwhile, in a separate report, the shipbroker Scrubber with “Maran Argonaut” – 177K/2009 SWS and “Maran Happiness” – 177K/2007 SWS sold en masse for US$60 million, moving to Kamsarmax sector “Themis” – 82K/2012 Cosco Dalian sold for over US$18 million on SS/DD basis due July 2027, while Greek buyers acquired “Key Hunter” – 82K/2011 Tsuneishi for 20 very high USD mills Additionally, “Star Moira” – 82K/2006 Tsuneishi traded for $14.25.
