Van Oord has completed an inter-array cable installation campaign at the Windanker offshore wind farm site in the Baltic Sea.
According to the project owner and developer, Iberdrola, the campaign included the installation and burial of 21 cables with a total length of 28 kilometers. The company said on social media that the work was completed on schedule and without any lost-time incidents during approximately 360,000 working hours.
Van Oord installed the cable using its vessel Nexus, under a contract signed in 2024.
The company was also responsible for installing all 21 proprietary foundations It will be completed in late 2025 Using the offshore installation vessel Svanen.
The 315 MW Windanker plant is being built northeast of the island of Rügen in Germany’s Baltic Sea waters, and will become Iberdrola’s third offshore wind farm in the country, alongside the operational Wikinger and Baltic Eagle projects. Combined, the three offshore wind farms will have an installed capacity of about 1.1 GW.
It will include the Windanker offshore wind farm 21 wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa with a capacity of 15 MWIt is scheduled to be fully operational in 2027.
