27,076 people have been warned after ‘unauthorized third party’ hacked wealth management firm – names, bank account numbers and more are now at risk


A security breach that compromised the computer system of a Wisconsin-based financial services company put the sensitive data of 27,076 people at risk.

In a May 29 notice, KerberRose Wealth Management tells potentially affected individuals: Security incident Which was discovered on May 1st.

The company says an “unauthorized third party” took over an employee’s email account, enabling the perpetrator to access the backup platform used to operate the company’s wealth management business.

KerberRose says it immediately took measures to contain the incident. It also requested assistance from a forensic security company to determine who may have been affected and what data may have been obtained.

Based on the investigation, the personal information disclosed may have included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, bank account information, and dates of birth.

The individuals affected include KerberRose’s wealth management clients as well as retirement plan applicants and participants who benefit from the company’s services. last Work systems and departments were not affected.

KerberRose says it is offering affected individuals free identity theft protection services.
