Viridien and Aker BP have entered into a strategic partnership agreement to enhance collaboration across OBN’s multi-client seismic and geoscience workflow for exploration on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, with the aim of accelerating the discovery and development of additional reserves.

This agreement establishes a five-year cooperation framework designed to align strategy and make consistent efforts to innovate and develop technology, with the aim of improving exploration efforts offshore Norway.

Peter SorhaugAker BP’s Exploration and Reservoir Development Division commented: “Our strategic partnership with Viridien supports Aker BP’s ambition to achieve profitable and sustainable growth on the Norwegian continental shelf. We have built a close and constructive cooperation with Viridien over time. This agreement is a natural extension of our cooperation and follows Aker BP’s strategy to transform exploration and production through selected strategic partnerships.”

“Aker BP sees ocean floor node seismic scanning as a key enabler for improved high-quality subsurface imaging and data, both in exploration and field development. Together with Viridien, we will enhance our seismic data acquisition, imaging, and processing capabilities to unlock greater value from our portfolio.”

The partnership, which combines the Norwegian player’s operational expertise with the French company’s imaging technology and expertise, also expands the latter’s multi-client OBN coverage to support large-scale exploration.

Deshun LinHead of Earth Data, Viridian, confirmed: “This multi-year agreement reflects Viridien’s strategy of long-term collaboration and investment in NCS.

“Our seismic imaging expertise and local knowledge have played an important role in reducing near-field exploration risks and enabling cutting-edge discoveries. We look forward to continuing to work with Aker BP to develop technologies that will enhance the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and value of OBN.”

The collaboration with Aker BP comes shortly after the Viridien collaboration I embarked on a multi-client ocean floor node survey In the central North Sea, covering the UK and Norway sectors.
