State-owned Norwegian energy giant Equinor has received the blessing of Norwegian authorities for plugging and abandonment (P&A) activities in the North Sea, which will be carried out using a semi-submersible platform owned by COSL Drilling Europe, an offshore drilling company.
The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) granted Equinor approval to use the liner in 2012 COSL Promoter Semi-submersible platform for permanent connection and water abandonment Tordis field.
The approval covers plugging and abandonment of 34/7-K-4 HT2, and the goal of the activity is to permanently plug the reservoir and Lista formation to improve the well’s barrier condition.
It is located in the Tampen area in the northern part of the North Sea, between the Statfjord and Gullfax fields, with water depths ranging from 150-220 metres. Tordis was discovered in 1987, and the plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved in 1991.
The field is developed with a central subsea manifold linked aft Gullfax cWhich also provides water for injection. There are seven single-well satellites and two subsea models associated with the manifold. Tordis production began in 1994.
