The Baltic Dry Index falls to its lowest level in more than 6 weeks


The dry bulk freight index on the Baltic Exchange fell 0.3% to 2,720 on Monday, the lowest level since April 30.

The ship volume index, which typically transports 150,000 tons of cargo including iron ore and coal, fell 1.3% to 4,053.

In contrast, the Panamax index, which usually carries between 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose 0.4% to 2,291.

The Supramax index rose 1.3% to 1,664.
