Western Star Resources announces drone geophysics results at Rowland Tungsten property – Resource World Magazine


Western Star Resources Company (Private search engine: WSR) (Over-the-counter: WSRIF) (FRA: 4K2) (“the Company” or “Western Star”) is pleased to announce the results of a high-resolution UAV magnetic geophysical survey completed across the Rowland Tungsten property in Elko County, Nevada, USA.

The survey is designed to improve the Company’s understanding of structural controls on mineralization, improve geological interpretation of the property, and help prioritize targets for follow-on exploration.

Key observations and insights:

  • The first modern, high-resolution geophysical dataset acquired through the ownership of Roland Tungsten.
  • The products of the total magnetic intensity (TMI), first vertical derivative (1VD), second vertical derivative (2VD), and analytical signal (AS) are processed and interpreted.
  • Many of the present target areas correspond to northeast-southwest trending magnetic lines, which are interpreted to represent potential fault structures and fluid paths.
  • The historical workings and areas targeted in the first phase appear to be spatially related to the careful interpretation of intrusive carbonate contacts and potential skarn horizons.
  • The adjacent high magnetic field and low magnetic field immediately south of the historic Roland area represent untested features that may indicate extensions of the potential Skarn horizon.

Magnetic results for drones

The Rowland area has limited public high-resolution geophysical coverage, and to the company’s knowledge, no previous operator has completed a modern UAV magnetic survey across the property. As a result, current geological maps are relatively large-scale and provide limited detail on the structural structure of the mineralized system. By completing a high-resolution drone magnetic survey, Western Star has obtained a cost-effective data set that significantly improves the company’s ability to interpret the structural and geological environment of the Rowland Tungsten Property.

Initial interpretation of the magnetic data (Figure 1) identified several linear features trending northeast to southwest across the property. These lines are interpreted to represent potential fault or fracture zones that may serve as pathways for hydrothermal fluids associated with tungsten-bearing saccharine mineralization.

Importantly, several areas of historical activity appear to coincide with interpreted contacts of intrusive carbonates and magnetic lineations. This relationship is encouraging, as tungsten skarn systems typically develop where mineralization fluids interact with reactive carbonate host rocks adjacent to intrusive bodies. The survey also suggests that the particular intrusive system may be more extensive than previously recognized. If confirmed by geological mapping and geochemical follow-up, this would indicate that the potential contact zone for intrusive carbonates extends beyond areas historically worked.

In addition, the adjacent high magnetic fields and low magnetic fields immediately south of the historic Rowland area represent two untested geophysical features. These areas will be evaluated as part of the company’s Phase 2 exploration program and may represent potential extensions of the main Rowland area or potential additional skarn prospects.

Next steps

The geophysics will be combined with Phase 1 test results, scheduled for the coming weeks, to define target stock for priority drilling and inform the Phase 2 exploration program at Rowland.

Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC):

Comprehensive quality assurance/quality control protocols were applied to the magnetic survey data during data collection to ensure their integrity and reliability. All magnetic data were quality checked in the field and final data processing and gridding was performed using Geosoft Oasis Montaj by Warren Hughes at East Coast Consulting. Diurnal corrections were applied using filtered base station readings, and additional corrections for lag and directional bias were applied. The filtered derivative products—including the analytical signal and the first vertical derivative—were then calculated from the corrected TMI data. Grids were generated using the minimum curvature method with a cell size of approximately one-third of the flight line spacing. All maps are displayed in the NAD 1984 UTM Zone 11N coordinate system.
