Shearwater and Searcher conclude 3D seismic acquisition in the Pelotas Basin in Brazil


Norway’s Shearwater GeoServices and Australia-headquartered Searcher have completed this season’s multi-client 3D seismic acquisition campaign in the Pelotas Basin in Brazil.

This third phase contributed an additional 7,500 km2 of high-quality 3D data, building on the 9,500 km2 previously acquired, bringing the total regional multi-client library to more than 17,000 km2 of wide-area 3D seismic coverage.

The acquisition was carried out by The water is thickShip SW Empress.

With the project completed on schedule in late Q1 2026, decision-ready data is expected to be available to industry in the first half of Q2 2026.

According to the Norwegian company, this marks the conclusion of the third acquisition season.

“The Pelotas Basin continues to attract strong industry interest due to its geological connection to the prolific Orange Basin offshore Africa. This conjugate margin relationship enhances exploration potential on the South American side.” Shearwater said.
