New research reveals five strategic priorities that will shape the future of logistics over the next three to five years


Magaya, the leading freight management platform for logistics service providers, and Adelante SCM, a supply chain research and consulting firm, today announced the launch of the new Strategic Logistics Service Provider: What Winning Shipping and Customs Brokerage Leaders Do Differently.

Based on a survey of 125 freight forwarders and customs brokers, as well as executive interviews from across the industry, the report examines how logistics providers are responding to growing uncertainty, rising customer expectations, and the increasing role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in daily operations.

The research found that although many organizations are investing in technology and process improvements, there are still significant opportunities to enhance decision-making, integration and operational agility.

Key findings of the report include:

• Two-thirds of freight forwarders and customs brokers say uncertainty is higher today than three years ago.
• Only 13% rate their organizations as excellent at making data-driven operational decisions.
• Only 11% describe their organizations as highly integrated between customers, carriers, partners and regulatory systems.
• Only 2% reported that they have adopted AI into their entire operations, compared to 17% with no plans at all to integrate AI into their operations.
• Working with AI and automation tools is ranked as the most important skill for the workforce in the next two to three years.

“The most successful logistics providers no longer compete solely on execution,” said Gary Nemmers, CEO of Magaya. “They help clients make better decisions in an increasingly complex environment. The report also highlights the broader transformation taking place across the industry. As customers face increasing regulatory complexity, trade volatility, and supply chain disruption, freight forwarders and customs brokers are being asked to provide deeper insights, stronger guidance, and faster access to information.
