Mellitah Oil and Gas Company has achieved the production of hydrocarbons from Sabratha pressure projectwhich Eni describes as a strategic offshore development project aimed at maintaining and increasing gas production from the sea Bahr El Salam gas fieldIt is located about 100 kilometers off the Libyan coast.

This project consists of installing a new 1,600-ton compression unit on… Sabratha platformequipped with new pressure trains, providing a total pressure capacity of approximately 440 million standard cubic feet per day (scfd).

The new unit is said to enable production under low pressure conditions, compensating for the natural decline of the Bahr El Salam field and maximizing gas recovery, ensuring increased volumes of gas of about 800 million cubic meters per year and associated condensate.

The Italian giant confirms that the additional production will play a decisive role in maintaining national energy generation, enhancing the country’s energy security, and supporting exports to Italy via Green Stream Pipeline.

“The successful commissioning of the Sabratha compression project confirms the commitment of Eni and the National Oil Corporation to deliver complex offshore development projects in a timely manner, even in difficult environments.” Eni highlighted.

“The project enhances the resilience of Libya’s gas infrastructure and represents a tangible contribution to the stability and growth of the country’s energy sector.”

Two additional strategic projects are currently underway in the country: Puri The gas exploitation project Linkage and commissioning activities In progress after the last installation of the gas recovery unit, and A&E structureswhere Implementation is ongoing To develop two offshore gas fields.

Eni, which recorded equity production of about 162 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2025, has three development projects currently underway with total investments of about $10 billion.
