A West Virginia woman was arrested on 127 counts of fraud after she drained nearly $18,000 from a victim’s bank account through unauthorized access.
West Virginia State Police launched an investigation after the victim reported repeated unauthorized withdrawals totaling approximately $18,000 over several months. Reports WSAZ News.
Investigators traced the activity to 37-year-old Ashley Newsome of Lenore.
She is accused of obtaining the victim’s bank card information and using it to make withdrawals through her personal Cash App account.
Police issued arrest warrants for Newsom on 127 counts of fraudulent use of an access device, as well as grand theft and computer fraud charges.
Newsom was arrested and arraigned in Mingo County Magistrate Court and later released on bail.
