The organization behind the second-largest blockchain network revealed that it used a coordinated army of artificial intelligence agents to identify vulnerabilities in Ethereum’s critical infrastructure.
The team said a major bug was discovered and successfully corrected before it became a bigger problem. But this may be just the beginning of this bigger story.

AI agents are deployed against the protocol code, cryptographic software, and smart contracts that underpin the network. The most important problem the team faced was not finding the bug itself, but filtering out the real issues from the huge number of false positives generated by customers.
The team did not publish its findings until the problem was fixed, but the researchers said that the greatest achievement lies in the process of finding it, not the vulnerability itself. AI has become very effective at identifying potential vulnerabilities, but without a human touch, the process is still far from good enough for such major tasks.
The organization compared AI agents to modern obfuscation tools. They won’t replace human auditors, but they can significantly expand the research process by creating proof-of-concept exploits, tracing attack paths, and testing assumptions at a scale that would otherwise be difficult to achieve manually.
