Georgia-based healthcare management company ApolloMD is preparing to pay $4.02 million to settle a class action lawsuit over a data breach incident.
Agreement compensates Individuals whose personal and health information was compromised in a hack last year.
On May 22, 2025, unusual activity was detected on the company’s IT network, according to the lawsuit. The investigation found that an unauthorized third party may have accessed or obtained files containing information about patients treated by the company’s physicians and medical practices. Sensitive personal information may include names, dates of birth, addresses, diagnostic information, provider names, dates of service, treatment information, health insurance information, and Social Security numbers.
The lawsuit alleges that inadequate security measures led to the breach that affected thousands.
Data breach notifications were sent to affected individuals in September 2025 and March 2026. Those affected have until September 30 to file a claim for compensation for the impact.
Members of the settlement class are eligible to recover up to $5,000 for documented losses that arose as a result of the data breach. A replacement cash payment of $75 will also be provided, as settlement class members will not be required to provide proof of losses. The deadline to object to the settlement is August 31. The final court hearing on the case is scheduled for October 5.
ApolloMD agreed to the settlement without admitting fault.
