The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk shipping index, which monitors prices for ships carrying dry bulk goods, advanced for the third session on Monday, rising about 0.5% to a new high since June 5 at 2,960 points.
The cargo volume index, which typically transports 150,000 tons of cargo including iron ore and coal, also rose for a third day, rising 1% to its highest level in more than a month at 4,702 points. The Supramax index rose 0.1% to its highest level since June 22 at 1,707 points.
Meanwhile, the Panamax index, which tracks ships carrying about 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 0.1% to 2,250 points.
