Watch: Installation of a floating solar platform in Valencia


Spanish company BlueNewables has installed the Paiporta floating solar platform in the Port of Valencia, marking the first major offshore operation for the RENMARINAS project.

BlueNewables led the entire engineering scope and management of EPCI, including conceptual, fundamental and detailed engineering; Procurement, supply and certification; Manufacturing and integration; Logistics and shipping services. Mooring, towing, lashing and offshore installation; Suppliers, contractors and technical interfaces.

The company stated that the offshore installation of the photovoltaic module comes after years of technological development, engineering and integrated management.

“Our role went beyond developing the technology. BlueNewables served as the overall integrator of the project, transforming the property concept into a true outdoor facility.” Blue Newables reported. “The Paiporta platform demonstrates our ability to manage complete offshore projects, integrating multiple disciplines and taking solutions from engineering to implementation at sea.”

BlueNewables’ PV-bos technology combines dual-sided solar panels with modular floating platforms and containerized inverters. According to the company, the system uses seawater as a natural coolant to improve energy efficiency.

The company indicated that it will now move to the second platform, Cataroga.
