Ripple is preparing for what could be a $1.1 billion XRP dump in August

Ripple is preparing to unlock 1 billion coins XRPValued at about $1.1 billion on August 1, raising new concerns about potential selling pressure.

At press time, XRP was trading at $1.10 on July 24, down 1.76% on the day, with a trading volume of $1.05 billion over the past 24 hours, according to Data from CoinMarketCap.

Ripple Labs has typically unlocked 1 billion XRP from its escrow account on the first day of every month as part of a predictable schedule since 2017.

With the coin’s circulating supply at around 62.46 billion at press time, the August 1 release will temporarily inflate it by 1.6%.

Ripple to re-lock XRP in escrow

Although the company receives 1 billion XRP per month, it often re-secures between 60% and 80% for a new collateral contract.

For example, Ripple re-secured 700 million XRP each month in 2026 after receiving 1 billion tokens, thus reducing the monthly net addition to circulating supply to just 300 million tokens.

Thus, Ripple can only inflate the altcoin’s circulating supply by about 0.48% in August if it follows its previous trend.

It should be noted that the escrow account contains approximately 32,444,999,933 XRP, worth over $35.6 billion, at the time of writing, according to Data from XRPSCAN.
