OSISCO Gold Group (TSXV: OGG, NYSE: OGG) and the Province of Wales, British Columbia have signed a support and benefits agreement to support social and economic initiatives within the region related to Osisko’s Cariboo gold project.
Under the three-year agreement, the company may contribute a total of C$3 million to community initiatives identified by the region. Currently, the only initiative agreed upon is $500,000 CAD for WILDways High School. This funding will support the school’s infrastructure needs. Contribution is voluntary and at Osisko’s discretion.
“Through this agreement, we remain committed to ensuring that the positive benefits of (Caribou) are felt locally and meaningfully,” said Greg Berens, vice president of sustainable development at OSESCO.
Wells Mayor Ed Coleman said the agreement aligns with the region’s goals. “As the project moves toward construction, this agreement provides us with important resources and structure to meet the needs of the community and ensure residents take advantage of the opportunities ahead.”
The Cariboo project is 100% owned by Osisko and is the company’s flagship location in central British Columbia, and is viewed as key to the company’s growth strategy. A 2025 feasibility study projected production of 1.89 million ounces of gold over the 10-year life of the mine.
