ION Minerals operates as a privately held exploration and production company dedicated to acquiring, evaluating and developing brine-borne mineral resources in North America, with a primary focus on lithium. The company leverages advanced geological benchmarks, proprietary data and traditional exploration and production expertise to advance saltwater resources toward commercial development to support the North American battery supply chain.

The private company now controls just over 280,000 acres of minerals through disciplined acquisitions, targeted leasing and focused geological evaluation. This expansion solidifies ION’s position as a major developer of lithium resources that will supply North America’s growing battery manufacturing sector.

The company has built its portfolio around three distinct project areas, each of which offers significant commercial potential in existing or emerging lithium development corridors.

East Texas operations target proven resources

ION controls approximately 50,000 mineral acres in East Texas within the producing Smackover Formation. The company has strategically placed these properties between Tetra Technologies’ Evergreen Brine unit and Standard Lithium’s Reynolds Brine unit in southwest Arkansas, as well as Standard Lithium’s Franklin project in east Texas. These adjacent projects indicate a resource intensity of 47-60 tons of lithium carbonate equivalent per acre.

The location places ION within one of the most active saltwater development corridors in North America. The region benefits from strong resource verification, a history of saltwater production, and increased commercial momentum in adjacent projects.

Texas Panhandle holdings show great potential on a large scale

ION also controls approximately 65,000 mineral acres in the prospective Texas Panhandle region, targeting brown and white dolomite formations. The company’s internal analysis of public and private data estimates up to 2.4 million tons of LCE found across these properties.

The site is located within an area of ​​interest of approximately 202,342 hectares (500,000 acres) and provides a route for extensive commercial development potential.

Saskatchewan acquisition opens new frontiers

ION recently acquired just over 165,000 mineral acres in southeastern Saskatchewan, creating a significant position in the rapidly emerging brine lithium play targeting the Duperow Formation.

Based on preliminary geological data and independent analogue assessments, the Saskatchewan acreage contains an estimated 2.5 million tons of LCE potential. The project targets multiple production platforms within the Dobero Formation, and is scheduled to begin drilling and testing in the summer of 2026.

Strategic timing is aligned with policy support

Lithium remains key to electric vehicle batteries, grid storage systems, and broader electrification initiatives. Policymakers in the United States and Canada continue to focus on the development of domestically important minerals as a matter of economic and energy security.

ION’s 113,311 hectare (280,000 acre) site across Saskatchewan and Texas provides exposure to large-scale saltwater systems in jurisdictions aligned with long-term domestic supply chain development objectives.
