NORCAT will bring together mining technology developers and industry buyers at the third biennial Mining Transformed exhibition in Sudbury in May. The three-day event ranks as the world’s only underground technology exhibition, connecting companies looking for modern mining solutions with innovative developers.
The show takes place at NORCAT’s underground center in Onabing, northwest of Sudbury, where participants can test and demonstrate the latest technology in actual mining conditions rather than traditional conference settings.
“At NORCAT Underground, we are moving beyond the polished promises of the boardroom and into drifting performance,” the organization said in promotional literature. “This is where builders and buyers connect to validate autonomous systems, electrical and digital integration in real mining conditions.”

NORCAT launched the Mining Transformed Expo in 2022, attracting exhibitors from around the world along with many Northern Ontario companies. The timing aligns with BEV In Depth: Mines to Mobility, an annual conference examining the battery electric vehicle supply chain and Northern Ontario’s role in enhancing it. NORCAT operates a unique underground testing facility
NORCAT operates one of the few facilities globally where mining technologies can be tested in real underground conditions. The organisation, established as a non-profit mining innovation centre, focuses on enhancing safety, productivity and environmental performance in the mining sector.
The Underground Center provides companies with access to realistic testing environments that traditional surface demos cannot replicate. This approach helps validate equipment performance under actual mining conditions before companies make significant investments in equipment.
