The Baltic Dry Index is compiled by the London-based Baltic Exchange and covers prices of transported goods such as coal, grains and iron ore. The index is based on a daily survey of agents around the world. The Dry Baltic Sea reached a temporary peak on May 20, 2008, when the index reached 11,793. The lowest level was reached on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, when the index fell to 290 points.
