A strong new construction market remains the case



MNew construction orders have continued to pour in over the past week, as owners maintain their investment “appetite”. In its latest weekly report, shipbroker Panchero Costa said that “newbuilding activity remained healthy this week, with dry bulk taking center stage, while new orders were also reported in the container and gas tanker sectors. In dry bulk, COSCO Shipping was particularly active, placing a large series of orders for 87,000 tons of Kamsarmax bulk carriers, split between Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry and its yards. CSSC, with deliveries extended from mid-2029 to 2031. Meanwhile, in the S&P market, shipbroker Exclusive noted that “activity in the dry bulk market remained healthy this week across all sectors, with strong interest in both recent tonnage and medium-age units. In the Kamsarmax segment, ‘SCION MATHILDA’ – 82K/2024 Jiangsu New Hantong sold for US$41.9 million to Castor clients, which has already been delivered. “POLYNESIA QUEEN” – Tsuneishi Zhoushan 82K/2012 sold for 20.8 mills USD to undisclosed buyers, while Tsuneishi “CS OLIVE” – 82K/2009 sold for 17 mills USD – 82K/2007 Tsuneishi sold for 14.5 mills.
