Through the use of “Ovation Green” Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software, Emerson helped Holy Cross Energy improve power generation across four sites in western Colorado.
Holy Cross Energy is a nonprofit rural electric cooperative that operates local colleges, ranching operations and tourist sites, including Vail and Aspen resorts. Power purchase agreements with local service providers allow Holy Cross Energy to provide renewable electricity to members. Emerson’s SCADA software helps manage four solar, wind and battery storage plants serving approximately 45,000 members. The platform enables precise, real-time control and supports multi-day scheduling of hourly plant operations, the company said.
“This unified operational view helps us optimize resources, meet member needs, monitor contractual obligations and performance requirements, and support real-time market engagement and forecasting,” said Phil Armstrong, director of energy supply at Holy Cross Energy.

The software will be demonstrated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at Emerson’s upcoming Ovation User Group conference, July 26-30.
