Dutch gas infrastructure company Gasunie has launched a public tender seeking a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) from a newly built offshore wind farm as part of its goal to source 40% of its energy from zero-carbon sources by 2030.
Through the tender, Gasunie seeks to purchase 40 megawatts of energy from the new offshore wind project for a period of ten years, starting from January 1, 2029 or January 1, 2030.
The electricity must be physically delivered with associated traceable guarantees of origin, according to the contract notice published in the Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union on July 24.
Your purchase also includes two optional capacity increases. The first will add 10MW from 2029/30 to 2036, potentially extending until the end of the decade, subject to a final investment decision (FID) on the EemsEnergyTerminal project in the first half of 2027.
The LNG import terminal in Eemshavn has been operating since September 2022 and was originally contracted for a period of five years. In June this year, Gasunie and its partner Vopak took a conditional investment decision (cFID) on extending the LNG terminal’s operations beyond 2027.
The second option in the offshore wind procurement tender allows Gasunie to increase contracted capacity by up to 10 MW over the term of the contract through a mutual agreement to support Gasunie’s zero-carbon energy goals.
The contract will be awarded on the basis of the lowest price including electricity and operating system.
The deadline for submission of proposals ends at 11:00 CET on 30 September 2026, while requests for additional information can be submitted until 4 September 2026.
