HYPE Challenges Altcoin Collapse as BTC Drops Below $77K: Market Watch


In contrast, BCH and PI have eliminated most of the large- and mid-cap altcoins.

Bitcoin’s woes intensified as legacy financial markets began to open overnight, with the asset falling to a new multi-week low below $77,000.

Most altcoins have followed suit with painful declines from ETH, DOGE and especially BCH. Conversely, HYPE and ZEC defied a collapse.

BTC is below $77K

The previous business week was noticeably more bullish for the underlying cryptocurrency. It started with some volatility on Sunday which included a drop below $80,400, but quickly rebounded and made $2,000 in minutes. Although it initially stopped there, Bitcoin returned to the $82,000 level on Tuesday, only to stop again.

This correction was even more painful and pushed it south to below $79,000 on Wednesday. Bulls had the upper hand on Thursday after the Clarity Act Pass US Senate Banking Committee, Bitcoin is back at $82,000. However, this turned out to be just another counterfeiting operation, and the subsequent rejections were extremely brutal.

Bitcoin fell to $76,500 for the first time in nearly three weeks, and currently stands below $77,000.

Noise up, most down

Ethereum is close to falling below $2,100 after another 3% decline on a daily scale. BNB price fell to $640 after a 2% decline, while XRP fell below $1.40 after a similar decline. DOGE is down more than 5% daily, while Bitcoin Cash is down more than 11% and is now struggling at $365.

With most other altcoins in the red, there are two clear exceptions – HYPE and ZEC. The price of the former has risen to over $45, while the latter is priced at around $530. Pi Network’s native token continues to hit new local lows, dumping Down from $0.15 earlier today.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization fell by another $50 billion and fell to $2.630 trillion as of press time.
