Konecranes modernizes cranes at two AXIA hydropower plants

Axia Energia (BRL: AXIA)a renewable energy and electricity transmission company based in Brazil, has filed an application with Concrete cranes To modernize machinery in two of its water stations.

According to Konecranes, the order is booked for May 2026. The scope includes upgrades to overhead and gantry cranes at the Manso and Mascarenhas de Moraes hydropower stations in Brazil. The project will modernize five cranes at the two sites by replacing drive motors, installing new braking systems and upgrading automation systems. The service is scheduled for February 2027 in Mascarenhas de Moraes, and late 2027 in Manso. Financial details were not disclosed.

“The modernization of hydropower plants places great demands on the crane equipment and its reliability,” said Felipe Pereira, Senior Account Executive at Konecranes. “By modernizing the mechanical and control systems of the cranes, we prepare the equipment for intensive use during turbine modernization projects and improve its safety, reliability and availability.”

AXIA is a major renewable energy company in South America. It is responsible for 17% of Brazil’s national power generation. The company operates 81 plants, including 47 hydropower plants, 33 wind farms and one solar power plant.
