Aberdeen-based Maritime Developments Limited (MDL) has assisted Italian engineering, drilling and construction services giant Saipem during flexible preparations for activities off the coast of Guyana.

The company explained that the product was intended for ExxonMobil Owaru Deepwater development in the Stabroek area in Guyana. The package was packed from MDL’s US equipment base in Houma, Louisiana, and came complete with a custom net to interface with on-deck equipment, ensuring proper alignment of the product during handling.
Kingsley EmanuelSaipem’s Uaru installation manager commented: “Saipem required a tensioner to support our ship moving efforts in the US during our vessel mobilization. MDL was able to provide a quick solution to our presence in the country with their equipment and provided a high quality solution. The crew they provided was knowledgeable and professional.”
Prior to deployment, product pressure testing using the tensioner was completed at the Houma facility, with both testing and transportation operations overseen by the company’s field service personnel.
