Italian cable giant Prysmian has commissioned a new, latest generation heavy-duty plow developed by UK-based SMD, stating that it is the strongest and largest to date.
Prysmian reported that the plow is one of two purchased from SMD and will be used to bury power cables a maximum depth of five meters below the average seafloor level.
The tool will be deployed on the company’s Monna Lisa and Alessandro Volta cable laying vessels (CLVs).
“With precision, precision and efficiency, the tool enhances our ability to address increasingly challenging seabed conditions and achieve cable burial depths of up to five metres, depending on seabed characteristics.” He said Peter Watsonand Middlesbrough Naval Base and Naval Naval Assets at Prysmian.
