Netherlands-based SBM Offshore, a provider of design, build, installation and operation of floating offshore facilities, has signed to build its seventh Fast4Ward multi-purpose public hull (MPF7). Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company (SWS) and China Ship Building Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), which are subsidiaries of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

The three players have signed a contract to build the seventh MPF, which features SBM Offshore Fast4Ward’s common standard hull design for floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels, with a storage capacity of up to 2.3 million barrels of crude oil, adaptable to a wide range of offshore conditions.

This is the 13th MPF structure ordered to date, with each project offering lessons for increasing implementation risk, while improving quality and productivity.
The Dutch giant emphasizes that the MPF7 will inherit the highly optimized design of its predecessor, including the ability to accommodate up to 240 people. The buoy’s design is said to strictly adhere to international maritime standards, with improvements specifically designed for environmental protection, safety and crew comfort.
