Stablecoin issuer Tether has frozen funds in all 131 Tron wallets imposed by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on July 1 as part of its updated ISIS-K (ISIS-K) designation.
The action adds 134 cryptocurrency addresses as pool identifiers, 131 on TRON (TRX) and 3 on Monero (XMR), according to blockchain analytics firm Chainasis.
ISIS-K’s crypto wallets have received more than $1.4 million since 2023
Chainalysis reported that the designated TRON Wallets received more than $1.4 million since 2023 and sent more than $880,000. Several addresses moved funds to cryptocurrency exchanges in Syria, while the broader group showed significant exposure to major services.

ISIS-K operates across Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of Central Asia. OFAC first designated the group as a designated terrorist group in September 2015. Its media arm, Al-Azayem Media Foundation, has solicited cryptocurrency donations through websites and messaging platforms.
Historically, individual donations have been small, reflecting the modest means of supporters, according to Chainalysis’ analysis.
“Chainalogy collected historical donation addresses on Tron, Monero, and Bitcoin,” the report reads.
July 1 Update follows June OFAC action against Syrian financial services companies that disbursed funds to ISIS financiers. Earlier, in 2023, it rated Maldives-based client Ali Shafiu, whose TRON wallet interacted with the deposit. Addresses linked to Iranian exchanges,found Chainalysis.
Tether’s response fits into a broader pattern of private companies blocking illicit funds alongside government action. BeInCrypto was reported in May The company’s T3 financial crimes unit, which works with TRON and TRM Labs, has frozen more than $450 million in illicit cryptocurrencies since their debut in September 2024.
