The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk shipping index, which monitors prices for ships carrying dry bulk goods, rose for a second session on Friday, rising about 1.2% to its highest level since June 5 at 2,944 points.
The cargo volume index, which usually transports 150,000 tons of cargo including iron ore and coal, also advanced for a second day, rising 1.9% to 4,655 points. The Panamax index, which tracks ships carrying between 60,000 and 70,000 tons of coal or grain, was little changed at 2,253 points.
Among small ships, the Supramax index rose 0.4% to 1,706 points.
The main index for the week rose by about 8.4%.
