The Baltic Dry Index eases for the sixth day


The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk shipping index, which monitors prices for ships carrying dry bulk goods, fell for the sixth straight session on Friday, down 1.8% to the lowest level since May 21 at 2,981 points.

The cargo volume index, which usually transports 150,000 tons of cargo including iron ore and coal, fell 2.9% to 4,893 points. The Panamax index, which tracks ships carrying between 60,000 and 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 18 points to 2,236.

On the other hand, the Supramax index rose 4 points to 1,588 points.

The benchmark index fell 7.5% during the week.
