The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk shipping index, which monitors prices for ships carrying dry bulk goods, continued its decline for a fifth day on Thursday, falling about 1.4% to its lowest level since May 5 at 2,964 points, under pressure from larger ship sectors.
The Panamax index, which usually carries between 60,000 and 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 4.1% to 2,276 points. The cargo volume index, which typically transports 150,000 tons of cargo including iron ore and coal, fell 0.9% to its lowest level in more than two weeks at 4,834 points.
On the other hand, the Supramax index rose by 0.3% to 1,571 points.
