The Baltic Sea Dry Index hovers around 4-month highs


The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk shipping index, which monitors prices for ships carrying dry bulk goods, fell 0.1% to 2,673 points on Thursday, ending a 14-day rise, but still near the highest level in more than four months.

The cargo volume index, which usually transports 150,000 tons of cargo including iron ore and coal, fell 0.9% to 4,315 points; The Panamax index, which usually carries between 60,000 and 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 0.3% to 1,965 points.

Among small ships, the Supramax index rose 2.6% to its highest level since early December 2023 at 1,522 points.
