France-based energy giant TotalEnergies is pooling resources with Turkey’s national oil and gas giant, Türkiye Petrolleri AO (TPAO), to embark on hydrocarbon exploration activities.
TotalEnergies and TPAO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for exploration opportunities. This provides a framework for technical cooperation, including joint evaluation of exploration opportunities in the Black Sea region of Türkiye as well as internationally.
Nicola MavillaSenior Vice President of Exploration at TotalEnergies confirmed: “We are pleased to launch this cooperation with TPAO, leveraging the technical expertise of both companies to evaluate exploration opportunities in the Black Sea region and internationally on a mutually beneficial basis.”
The MoU with TotalEnergies comes weeks after the TPAO I signed a deal With BP to unify efforts in the field of oil and gas exploration and production, following the agreements concluded with ExxonMobil on January 8, 2026, and Chevron On February 5, 2026.
