Vår Energi is ready to launch the sixth chapter of its North Sea oil project


The Norwegian oil and gas company Vår Energi has received permission from the country’s authorities to start operating another part of an oil project in the North Sea off the coast of Norway.

The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) has given Vår Energi approval for the project Getting started and running to Balder, sixth stage On the Norwegian Continental Shelf (CCS). Balder is located in the central part of the North Sea, just west of the Grain field, at a water depth of 125 metres, and was discovered in 1967.

After the preliminary plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved in 1996, production began in 1999. The field was developed by connecting subsea wells to bald Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The Ringhorne depot is located 9 kilometers north of the FPSO and is included in the Balder complex.

Ringhorne is developed with a combined housing, drilling and wellhead facility, linked to FPSOs Balder and Jotun for processing, crude oil storage and gas export.

Balder and Ringhorne’s revised development target was approved in June 2020 development The plan includes extending the life and relocation of the FPSO Jotun, along with drilling new subsea wells.
