Western Star Resources announces first phase soil sampling of past Roland Tungsten property production, highlighting result of 0.14% WO3 in soil


Western Star Resources Company (Private search engine: WSR) (Over-the-counter: WSRIF) (FRA: 4K2) (the “Company” or “Western Star”) is pleased to report the results of the first phase of a soil geochemistry program at the former producing Rowland Tungsten Property facility in Elko County, Nevada, USA. The results confirmed the presence of a coherent, multi-element tungsten-skarn signature in the soil along a structural corridor of approximately 1 km, topped by a peak of 1,425 parts per million (ppm) of tungsten trioxide (WO₃) in the soil in the recently rediscovered historic works area. Based on the strength of these results, the company is mobilizing an expanded soil program to begin soon.

Excerpts from the first phase of soil geochemistry

  • Exceptional peak tungsten in soil: 0.14% WO3 (1130 ppm west) returned directly through the recently rediscovered historic works area.
  • Roland Home confirmed by soil: During major historical work the soil returned to 517 ppm and 504 ppm WO3.

Developing exceptional tungsten opportunities across the region

The Phase 1 soil grid consisted of 93 soil samples with a nominal spacing of 25 m above the central Rowland working corridor. Because the property had never been systematically explored in the way Western Star does, it was important to conduct a pilot sampling program to ensure the main phase of exploration was properly designed. Encouraging results showed tungsten to be a strong and discrete anomaly compared to the background background values ​​(determined to be around 2 ppm WO3). Multiple samples exceed 10 ppm, five above 50 ppm and three above 100 ppm west. The anomalous samples are interpreted to reflect a tungsten skarn system developed along a carbonate intrusive contact with potential NE-SW mineral structures. Peak value (1,425 ppm WO3 In X-3) in the central region, while there is a second strong group (up to 517 ppm WO3) above Rolland’s major works in the south. Copper, molybdenum, bismuth and beryllium were elevated in the same samples, confirming the presence of cohesive polymetallic skarn. Two large target areas have emerged and will be systematically explored by Western Star, along with extensive exploratory sampling.

The soil confirms Skarn’s model – and geophysics

Rowland is interpreted as a reduced tungsten skarn (W-Cu-Mo-Bi), where dissolved tungsten-bearing fluids from Cretaceous granite interacted with Ordovician-Cambrian limestone (OCtd unit) to deposit skelite-bearing skarn at and near the intrusive contact. The first-stage soils lie directly on this carbonate host, and the strongest anomalies are located on magnetic gradients (geological and structural contacts as imaged by the company’s drone magnetic survey). The coincidence of high-quality polymineral soils with these interpreted contacts over an area of ​​approximately 1 km is a powerful exploration vector. The two figures below show that the directional soil samples are elevated in the carbonate zone, associated contacts and interpreted fault zones. Table 1 shows the elevated W-Cu-Mo-Bi-Be values

Because soils are responding strongly in both the historic CBD and Rowland Mine, areas of known mineralization, the Company has high confidence that soil geochemistry reliably highlights potential skarn contact areas, and can be used aggressively to expand known areas and search for new ones.

Next steps to expand the soil anomaly

Western Star is mobilizing an expanded soil sampling program, to begin soon, designed to track potential skarn connections to the outside of known workings and potential mineralization control faults. The results of the expanded program will be combined with UAV magnetic surveying and field mapping to establish and prioritize drilling targets for the first drilling program at Rowland.

Sampling and analytical procedures

Soil samples were sent to ALS, an accredited laboratory independent of the company, and analyzed by the ME-MS41L method (Aqua Regia Summary, 51-element ICP-MS) with gold in the same package. Tungsten values ​​are reported in ppm; WO₃ is calculated as W × 1.2611. Abnormality thresholds were determined on log-transformed data using percentile (P90/P95/P98) and mean absolute deviation criteria; Values ​​below detection at half the detection limit were treated for statistical work.
